Seonomon Rides MRT
Seonomon, a shaman from Lengkuos (Lagei Lengkous), is one of the main characters of Berinareu, a Tirurai epic. In the said epic, the leader of Tirurai ethnolinguistic group or tribe should be followed, obeyed, and feared (Seonomon,Kuyugon, and Lalagen resprectively). He is one of the two (the other being Seangkaien) people assigned to lead the Tirurai people in the journey to heaven. He is a shaman, an empowered human being who was also in charge of religous matters as well as healing. In my understanding, he is an example of a classic Filipino leader who holds authority in many areas of his community may it be safety, religion, leadership, and others. Below is a short narration of what would it be like for him if he is instantly put in MRT.Seonomon is waken up by the sudden stop of the train. His thoughts confuse him. Why is the land stopping? What level of heaven is this? He looks at other passengers who stare at him intently. The trees reflecting the stars, I can almost touch them. However, my people seem different. The land we are standing on is not ascending. It does not even feel like land. Have we been swallowed by an enchanted serpent? Some of the people use their shields to create wind yet the warmth of the serpent prevails. Will hey hear me if I speak? Their ears seem to be infected by a thin ropes of madness. The train moves as the announcement is being played. Why is Fulu-fulu speaking in a different manner? Is she swallowed by the serpent too? The serpent is moving again. Perhaps she does this to protect us. He looks out the window. The skin of the serpent changes appearance every second. The MRT stops again. All Tirurai people must go inside the serpent Fulu-fulu has sent. Seonomon alights the train and shouts out to all the people to go inside. He climbs up a stair and hits one of the large clocks to reach out to more people. He doesn't notice that the train is already moving. He waits for a few more minutes until the number of people have lessened. Worriedly, he runs to the railway as he sees the serpent is gone. He shouts to the people on the platform who at the same time panics and screams for him to get off the rail tracks. Seonomon mistakes this as a cry for victory but eventually dies after the next train hits him.
